DAYTON WELCOMES NEW SUPERINTENDENT
After six months of a comprehensive superintendent search and sifting through 22 highly qualified candidates, the Dayton School District Board of Directors has chosen Dr. Steven Sugg to be its next superintendent. Dr. Sugg’s contract was approved at the March 3rd board meeting. His proposed start date is set for July 1st, 2020
Dr. Sugg brings with him a wealth of administrative experiences with over 31 years in a variety of educational roles. Since 2013, he has been the superintendent of Sheridan School District. Prior to that he was the Assessment and Accountability Coordinator, the Interim Chief Academic Officer and an Associate Principal within the Sherwood School District. Dr. Sugg has a doctorate in educational methodology, policy and leadership from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in advanced mathematics education from Western Oregon State College. He completed his administrative licensure program at Portland State University.
“The Dayton School Board is excited to welcome home Dr. Sugg. He brings with him a strong local connection. He has lived in the district for many years and raised his children here. His experience in administration and the classroom will be an asset to the schools,” said Board Chair Chris Wytoski.
