Corona Virus Updates

Dear Parents,

Starting on March 30th busses will deliver three days a week instead of five to reduce social contact. Bus route delivery of grab and go meals will begin at 10:00am.

  • Food will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting March 30th. 
    • Monday’s delivery will include breakfast and lunch for both Monday and Tuesday.
    • Wednesday’s delivery will include breakfast and lunch for both Wednesday and Thursday. 
    • Friday's delivery will include one breakfast and one lunch. 

The Dayton Junior High/High School Cafeteria will have grab and go meals available Monday-Friday, every day from 10:00-11:00 AM for both breakfast and lunch. 

We remain committed to providing meals for kids in the Dayton community.

Welcome To Our District

Dayton public schools are the heart of Dayton, Oregon.  Dayton School District is located in western Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley, between McMinnville and Newberg, and serves approximately 1,000 students in a grade school, junior high, and high school.  The school district draws people into the community who want a strong educational system with a rural sense of caring and teamwork.


District Highlights


After six months of a comprehensive superintendent search and sifting through 22 highly qualified candidates, the Dayton School District Board of Directors has chosen Dr. Steven Sugg to be its next superintendent. Dr. Sugg’s contract was approved at the March 3rd board meeting. His proposed start date is set for July 1st, 2020

Dr. Sugg brings with him a wealth of administrative experiences with over 31 years in a variety of educational roles. Since 2013, he has been the superintendent of Sheridan School District. Prior to that he was the Assessment and Accountability Coordinator, the Interim Chief Academic Officer and an Associate Principal within the Sherwood School District. Dr. Sugg has a doctorate in educational methodology, policy and leadership from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in advanced mathematics education from Western Oregon State College. He completed his administrative licensure program at Portland State University.

“The Dayton School Board is excited to welcome home Dr. Sugg. He brings with him a strong local connection. He has lived in the district for many years and raised his children here. His experience in administration and the classroom will be an asset to the schools,” said Board Chair Chris Wytoski.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the students, board, staff, and community of Dayton School District. It is an honor to be selected as the next superintendent,” said Dr. Sugg. We are pleased to have Dr. Sugg as our new superintendent and look forward to many successful years working together.

Budget Committee Vacancies

The Dayton School District Board of Directors is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill four vacancies on the District Budget Committee. The School Board will appoint these positions.

·         Position #2: Vacant – term expires 6/30/2021

·         Position #4: Vacant – term expires 6/30/2022

·         Position #5: Vacant – term expires 6/30/2022

·         Position #6: Vacant – term expires 6/30/2021

The Budget Committee plays a vital role in assisting the district and the community in reviewing the proposed budget each spring before the proposal is presented for adoption. Requirements for the positions are: must be a registered voter in the Dayton School District; must not be an officer or employee of the Dayton School District.

Academic Calendar Survey for 2020-21

Dayton School District would like to hear from you. Please review the following 3 calendar options for next school year 2020-2021. The important differences include start day, when conferences are, and how long we have for winter/thanksgiving break. The majority of the construction for our Bond project will be next summer and we are hoping to give the contractors as much time as possible.
