Welcome To Our District

Dayton public schools are the heart of Dayton, Oregon.  Dayton School District is located in western Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley, between McMinnville and Newberg, and serves approximately 1,000 students in a grade school, junior high, and high school.  The school district draws people into the community who want a strong educational system with a rural sense of caring and teamwork.

The School Bond Passed!

I am so pleased to report that our School Bond Measure passed.  While the results of the overall election are still preliminary, it appears that the Bond Measure passed.

Thank you to Dayton Voters and the Dayton Community for supporting our students and schools! It is clear that the community values education and wishes to continue the strong legacy of support! Also, thank you to the DFAC (District Facilities Advisory Committee), the School Board, the staff, and many others that helped in this process. The preparation for and the passage of the Bond would not have happened without you!

This is an important moment for our schools and community. The Bond Measure will generate $11 million, and because of its passage, we will also be awarded a $4 million matching state grant. That’s $17.5 million when combined with our previously awarded $2.5 million seismic grant for the Grade School!

 What happens next?

  1. The District will be looking for community volunteers to serve on a Bond Oversight Committee. An application for that committee will be on the school district website later this week.

  2.  The District will be releasing an RFP (Request for Proposals) for Project Management Services. We will hope to hire a project management firm in June.

There are many other steps to work through and information will continue to be shared with the community to ensure the appropriate expenditure of these funds which the community is generously providing our students and schools. Please give me a call at 503-864-2215 or email at jason.hay@dayton.k12.or.us if you have questions or concerns as we proceed.
